Installing WordPress locally in your computer – Part 2

In Part 2 of the WordPress local installation, I’ll show you how to create a database required by the WordPress installer.

Go to http://localhost/dashboard/ in your computer. Select the phpMyAdmin option from the menu.

Creating a Database for WordPress

phpMyAdmin is a tool that allows you to manage the databases in your XAMPP development platform.

To create a new database that will be used by WordPress click on New

Create Database for WordPress

Write the name of the database as indicated below. I gave the database the name db_wp and clicked on Create.

The new database will appear on the left section.

And that’s it. We already have a Web Server and a database. We are ready to proceed with the WordPress installation in Part 3.
